These images are from a scrapbook and are scans of prints in that book. They are mostly of Harvey Murdock in his younger days. A few feature Ina Murdock, his wife. Harvey got his teaching license in Ohio in 1897 and rode his bicycle along railroad rights of way to reach Center Point New Mexico where he was granted a contract to teach at the Center Point School. He also taught in Cedar Hill. Harvey travelled around New Mexico and Arizona and collected both agate rocks and Native American artifacts.
Harvey travelled north to the university in Boulder Colorado that later became part of the University of Colorado. He specialized in Agricultural Engineering and did laboratory work to earn his degree. He stayed on and supervised a number of studies. He was given a faculty position and served as Chairman in the late 1920s and early 1930s. He featured his collection of artifacts and gemstones in his private residence museum he called the Death Cave. His family was his wife Ina, his sons Herold and Tom and his daughter Elizabeth (Jane), my mother.
