Anyone need a bus? Well tough! They're all out of service. Which is actually nice because it means you can drive your own car around the park whereas you have to wait for the bus in the more crowded seasons.

Exploring Zion National Park and skiing at Eagle Point

I took a weekend trip to explore a snow covered Zion National Park followed by a day of skiing a little further north at Eagle Point Resort.
Not a bad view to wake up to.
The high point of a very short hike that left from the campground. The Watchman in the background.
Later we'd take a short hike up to the hillside below the cliffs in the background to get a better view of the buses. Or because I thought it would end somewhere more cool. Either way.
We were going to do Angels Landing but decided to do this instead since we were told Angles Landing was covered in ice and we'd definitely want traction spikes for it (and I wasn't keen to buy spikes just for one hike).
The buses! And a lineup of cars waiting to get in.
Stylish shirt and jacket with matching patches. Nice.
Basically like hiking in wet cement.
Some hikers coming back had told us the mud only lasted another 1/4 mile or so. This was definitely not the case.
We drove up Zion Park Blvd (aka Highway 9) past the Mount Carmel Tunnel and then decided to stop and scramble up the cool looking sandstone hills next to the road.
He turned around about this point. I of course continued upwards.
This tree looked super cool IRL, but it was hard to get a photo that captured the crazy topography.
We decided to hike a little ways up Angels Landing and see how bad the ice really was. It got icy and dark about a third of the way up.
Definitely diesel heater weather. I overheard locals complaining about the cold. Mid-70s in the trailer with the heater going though.
Eagle Point Resort, at the lower of their two lodges: Canyonside Lodge.
This lift is so weird. It allows access to one blue run. I guess it can help bypass a parallel blue run that has an uphill section you can get stuck on if you don't get enough speed. Regardless, it's always fun to try to ride surface lifts.
